Green Freeport Capacity Fund

Empowering communities for a greener future

The Green Freeport Capacity Fund is a new initiative by Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, created to support local projects that drive inclusive opportunity and environmental progress.

Applications open 1st July 2025.

Running as a one-year pilot, the Fund offers ten grants of £2,000 each to eligible groups or organisations based within the Freeport area.

Who we’re looking to support

We aim to empower individuals and groups who have historically faced barriers to employment or skills access, including:

  • Young women
  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Those experiencing economic hardship

We are looking for community-led initiatives that open doors, build skills, and drive positive change. Each project must also contribute to our green future — examples include:

  • Promoting renewable energy
  • Enhancing biodiversity
  • Delivering meaningful environmental improvements

How to apply

All applications are assessed against clear, transparent criteria to ensure fair access and impactful results. Successful applicants will also be invited to share their success stories to inspire others.
